hardware codename for Type 1 sidecars.

Prototype Version 1

Only difference on these sidecars is the port label engraving says DBG PIX instead of just PIX. They are also a dark black color. Only Found on XeDKs.

Prototype Version 2

Port engraving for PIX now only says PIX, same as final. They are also a dark black color. This Sidecar is used by 008 and early 009 Development Kits.

Type 2

Used on Xbox 360 XDK-GB. Retains risers left over from canceled GbE testing. Board still uses the same PCBs as Type 1, but the newly designed Sidecar shell covers the PIX port permanently.

Prototype Type 2

Used on Prototype Xbox 360 XDK-GB units. Features a Gigabit ethernet board, with cut out for the ethernet port.

Notes
  • Both Type 1 and 2 sidecars need to be manually plugged into motherboard via an extended cut in chassis. aka the worlds smallest hole.

Type 3

Designed for Xbox 360 S Development kits. Significantly more modular then previous sidecar types. Plugs into daughter board located inside unit. Hard drive remains seated into bay in console. PIX port has been completely removed from PCB.
